Feltmaking Workshops September 2010 to July 2011

Held on Saturdays 10am - 4pm

If you would like to attend any of the workshops below please email me for a booking form. A Non-returnable deposit of £10 for each workshop will secure a place.

All materials and feltmaking equipment will be provided for each workshop, but you will be asked to bring some of your own work and machines for the Embroidery and Embellishing workshops. Please make sure that all machines are P.A.T. tested.

All workshops are £35 for the day except the Nuno Scarf workshop which is £40.

You will need to bring a packed lunch on the day but drinks will be provided.

2010 Workshops

 September 25th 2010 - An Introduction to Basic Feltmaking

Learn the ancient art of feltmaking with wool fibres and create a piece of work which can be used as a cushion front or a wall piece to hang freely, or be frame.

 

October 23rd 2010 - Tactile Textures in Felt

Experiment with 3-dimensional effects in felt work, using a variety of materials and techniques including wrapping, tying, moulding and cutting.

 

November 20th 2010 - 3D Vessels

 You will learn how to make a 3-dimensional vessel, using a variety of wool fibres.

 

December 11th 2010 - Experimental Nuno

Using a variety of open weave fabrics and merino wool fibres, this will be an experimental day, creating texture, pattern and colourful ideas within a series of samples. These ideas can then be used in future projects or designs for nuno scarves.

 

 

2011 Workshops

January 29th 2011 - Flowers

Brighten up the winter and make a collection of colourful 3-dimensional felted flowers in all shapes and sizes. These can also be decorated with beads and stitching.

February 26th 2011 - Embroidery for Feltmakers

You will use hand and machine stitching to enhance your own felt work and also some experimental pieces that I will provide. Bring your own sewing machine.

 

 March 19th 2011 - Nuno Scarf

 Working on a silk chiffon scarf with merino wool fibres you will produce your own design, creating a finished scarf to wear, or give as a gift.

 

April 23rd 2011 - Embellishment with Embellishing Machine

 Bring your own machine and some of your felt pieces, and enjoy an experimental day using additional fabrics, threads and fibres. Your resulting work can be cut to size to create greetings cards or left complete as wall hangings.

 

May 28th 2011 - Ideas and Techniques for Jewellery

 3-dimensional techniques for creating felt jewellery and body adornments.

 

July 30th 2011 - Seamless Bags

Design and make your own unique felt bag using a variety of wool fibres.
