Mixed Media Feltmaking

Residential Feltmakers Weekend with Jenny Pepper

and Guest Tutor Jackie Lunn

Friday 2 October to Sunday 4th at Cober Hill
    Centre for Refreshment and Inspiration
             near Scarborough, North Yorkshire

Following the success of our 2007 retreat at Cober Hill I am happy to announce we will be running a weekend in 2009. The theme will be Mixed Media Feltmaking. We all lead busy lives and the luxury of time to spend on feltmaking and experimenting with different techniques is precious. This weekend we will indulge in experimenting with techniques culminating in a finished work on Sunday.

Briefly:

On arrival we will have samples, books and source material to inspire. We will cover possible techniques and discuss and develop your ideas.

On Friday afternoon and evening we will experiment with dyeing silk and cotton fibres and fabrics ready to use and incorporate on Saturday. There will be collections of found objects to incorporate with your work.

Saturday morning we will help you develop your ideas and we will cover different methods of feltmaking to suit your choice, whether that be sculptural, Nuno for scarves and wraps or functional. Learn to make 3 dimensional hollow vessels, simple elegant forms or freaky adventurous shapes. Incorporate fibres, fabrics, found objects, stitch, beads and buttons.

Sunday morning we will be stitching, embroidering and adorning the finished felt work.

After lunch we will return to the work room for the final time and share our work and say our goodbyes.

I hope this is sufficient to give a taste of the weekend, most of all we hope to have fun in the company of like minded people whilst creating a wonderful piece (or pieces) of felt work.

£225 including all accommodation, meals, refreshments, materials and equipment. All deposits required by 30th March 2009.
